Modern Day Slavery Statement

(Financial Year ending March 2020)

1. Introduction

Alliance UK (“the Company”) is committed to providing a high standard of ethical conduct within its business. We are strictly against slavery in every form and takes its responsibility under the Modern Slavery Act 2010 (“the Act”) very seriously. This statement outlines the steps we have taken and plan to take to ensure that slavery and human trafficking have no home within any part of our business or supply chain.

2. Organisation structure and supply chains

Organisation Structure
Alliance UK is a family led business providing Janitorial Supplies. Our product range covers a wide variety of categories including catering, chemicals, equipment and hardware, floor care, washroom hygiene, health-care/clinical, machines, paper, workwear/PPE. Both our head office and service outlets are situated in the UK.
Alliance UK is committed to working with its suppliers to build greater transparency. We are dedicated to acting ethically and we expect this to also be replicated by our suppliers. Alliance UK has a dedicated Purchasing Manager who oversees and maintains all purchase relationships. For products which are sourced from outside of the UK, our Purchasing Manager ensures that ethical trading standards are being complied with throughout the manufacturing and importation process. The products which we source from the UK are from recognised suppliers, which we frequently communicate with to evaluate their compliance with the Act.
Alliance UK requires its suppliers to commit to comply with all applicable laws and regulations. We also require suppliers to abide by our policies; as a minimum meeting the standards set out in our Purchasing Policy. Furthermore, suppliers are subject to the Company’s due diligence checks – further details are set out below.

3. Policies in relation to slavery and human trafficking

Alliance UK remains committed to minimising the risk of modern slavery or human trafficking within its supply chain or any part of our business. Our policies include:

  • Purchasing Policy
  • Safer Recruitment Policy
  • Equal Opportunities Policy
  • Eligibility to Work Policy

4. Due diligence processes

Within our business:
Alliance UK has strict HR policies and standards to ensure compliance with legislation, including Right to work, Barred List and DBS check for those candidates working in the education sector, reference check and safeguarding awareness. Alongside this, we have a Health and Safety Policy which is updated yearly which ensures that working conditions are both safe and fair for all our employees.
Supply Chains:
Should any existing suppliers fail to meet our standards as set out in our Purchasing Policy, and such a situation is not rectified within a reasonable timeframe, this is likely to result in the termination of the relationship with the supplier. While we are aware that we do not have full control over the manner in which our suppliers carry out their operations, we implement an in-depth audit on all suppliers. This audit analyses the supplier’s behaviour in relation to slavery and human trafficking. If a potential new supplier does not meet the standards as set out in our Purchasing Policy, they shall not become a supplier until we receive confirmation that this is rectified.

5. Risk Assessment and Management

Our risk assessment concluded that the main areas of risk of Modern Slavery are in our supply chain and potentially with certain members of staff. Training has been arranged to ensure that relevant members of staff are aware of Modern Slavery, how to identify it and steps to take.

6. Training on modern slavery and trafficking

We have conducted training with senior management. Further training is to be provided to key managers and staff about Modern Slavery and guidance notes will be issued to attendees. This training will include:
